The Evangelist is an experimental music group from Sacramento, California consisting of rapper/producer NDX and singer/songwriter dogbeg. Their whirlwind production style is a sonic fusion of a wide array of musical elements; from the European electronic stylings of trip hop and downtempo to traditional folk and alternative rock singer-songwriter music. The two met in 2019 when dogbeg was performing a show at a local garage under the pseudonym "Protoevangelism". From 2019 to 2020 they would work on music together infrequently and were not able to materialize any of their efforts. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the duo became estranged and moved to different parts of the country. In late-2022, they would reconnect and begin to recreate dogbeg's debut 2019 release "Running on Revelations", the release that brought the duo together in the first place. This led them to form "The Evangelist", so that way Proto can live on forever. 2023 brought us their debut release "Still Running on Revelations", a complete recreation of "Running on Revelations" with a new, deeply layered sound and some additional re-recorded tracks dogbeg released sporadically from 2020 to 2022. In 2024, they would release their second album and the first one to contain all-new material, entitled "Total Bummer".
